Dear All,

Here is your October online update with some dates for your diaries and other information.

The Ely District Training Morning for Plain Hunt and Plain Bob Doubles was successfully held on 22nd Sept. Dee asks me to thank all those involved, and especially Philip Bailey for running the session. She is very pleased with the morning, and with the progress made by the students. Another similar training session will be arranged, probably in January.

The Association quarter peal day held on 29th September in the Hunts District was also a success; thanks to Sheila George for organising it, and to Angie Gell and Sally Beaman for providing a delicious tea. It was very pleasant to ring in some different towers, and to ring with and chat to members of the other districts.

District meetings scheduled for the next three months are:
+ November 3rd: Ringing at Swaffham Prior 2 - 3.30 pm, ringing at Swffham Bulbeck 3.30 - 5 pm then tea.
+ December 1st: Ringing at Longstanton 3 - 5 pm, then tea.
+ January 5th 2013: Ringing at Burwell 2.30 - 4.30, service, tea and ADM

There will be a District committee meeting after tea on November 3rd. This is the committee meeting when we will plan the ringing programme for 2013, so if you have any requests or suggestions, or any other matter which you would like the committee to consider, then please contact me or any committee member.

On Saturday 20th October, the Ely District Presents Go Glasgow! a Training Day for Glasgow Surprise Major.
Led by Paul Seaman
Time 9.30 am - 3.30 pm

All participants will be offered the chance to attempt a quarter peal of Glasgow at a later date.

We expect to arrange an 8-bell quarter peal attempt on Saturday November 17th, location to be decided. Please contact Roderick Johnstone (rmj@ast.cam.ac.uk) with any queries or suggestions.

The Cambridge District Carol Service will be held at Little Shelford on Saturday 8th December. Service ringing 6 pm. Service at 6.30pm followed by festive refreshments and general ringing. Singers are invited to join the choir; choir practice is in the church at 4.30pm - 5.30pm, followed by tea in the church hall. If you wish to be in the choir, please contact Phil Gorman (phil_gorman@hotmail.co.uk).

As always, please pass on any details in this email to Ely District members who do not receive it themselves.

Happy ringing,

Janet Garnett
Ely District Secretary
